This multimedia Work makes it
possible to carry out step-by-step recognition of the architectural evolution of the
Basilica, from the first project which was commissioned by Emperor Constanine in 324 A.D.
up to the final works dated 17 centuries later. Special attention is given to the most important projects and to the people who
participated in their implementation: architects, Popes and purchasers.
Comparisons between the different projects are made possible as well as the opportunity to
acquire an in-depth and overall knowledge of every single related topic. This is due to
the complete documentation purposely granted by the Archive of the Fabbrica of Saint
Peter's and which is enriched by the new photographs taken purposely for this project.
This section is further integrated by references to historical facts and architectural
styles and by a glossary of architectural items.
